A Message to the Community

Dear School Council and Community Members,

I hope you and your family have had a safe and healthy March Break, practicing Social Distancing (now referred to as Physical Distancing), and if you have just returned from a trip, isolating for 14 days as per Toronto Public Health directions.

The staff and I are thinking of you and miss you all!

This March Break has been an unusual one and has given me time to reflect upon what I am thankful for. While many of us are isolating ourselves and staying home, essential workers have been working hard to keep us safe and resourced during these challenging times. To those of you I say THANK YOU!

These are challenging times and I know we are all adjusting to new ways of doing things and trying to balance everything as best we can. Please check TDSB site regularly for updates. Information is also shared regularly on TDSB Social Media. I have been using Twitter and retweeting information as it becomes available.

The Ministry of Health has ordered to close playgrounds, sports fields and basketball courts to reduce the spread of Covid-19. TDSB has been called on to do the same.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or just to say hi J I can be reached by email.

I couldn’t help but think that our school in 1918 experienced closure due to a pandemic and now history repeats itself 102 years later. We got through it then and we will get through it together again!

Feel free to share this email with Highland Creek Families.

Take care of yourself and your family, stay safe and healthy and stay connected!

Best regards,

Secondary Program Review and Optional Attendance

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is undertaking a review of secondary schools to ensure all students have equitable access to programs and opportunities, as close to home as possible. As part of the Secondary Program Review, the TDSB is reviewing the Optional Attendance policy (P013), which allows students to apply to schools other than their designated school by home address.
A public consultation process for both the Secondary Review and P013 started in November 2019. Please visit the TDSB website for more information and opportunities to provide feedback: https://www.tdsb.on.ca/High-School/Secondary-Program-Review.
If you have any questions and/or comments, please email SecondaryReview@tdsb.on.ca
